Campaign Chaos (Continued)
Today the final stretch begins for the 2024 presidential election, now that the Republican and Democratic conventions are over and there are firm tickets on both sides: Trump-Vance, and Harris-Walz. Compared with prior elections, this one has already had its share of chaos and intrigue, with President Joe Biden withdrawing from the race and endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris to be the nominee.
Also in play, and of great consequence, are the House and Senate races, with chambers having razor-thin majorities (House Republican, Senate Democrat) that could remain or flip, so we could end up with a federal government that is all R, or all D, or a mix. We’ll know in less than three months.

When Congress returns after Labor Day, there will be plenty to do in a very short time. As always, money matters are front and center, with the likelihood of a “continuing resolution” being passed by September 30 to keep the government functioning. As always in DC, August is the calm before the storm, but we know it’s coming.
