Michael Kaiser, whose formal title is Executive Vice President and Director of Government Affairs, is, to be more brief, our lobbyist. Every day he tracks legislation and regulations that can affect the American wine industry, participates in industry coalitions, and educates legislators and staff—including about wine’s $323 billion annual benefit to the American economy.
In past years, WineAmerica has advocated for several measures that still save wineries tons of real money, most recently due to the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act. We also advocate against measures that could cost wineries money, or complicate their ability to operate efficiently and profitably.
Winery support of WineAmerica is like an “insurance premium” for public policy, similar to those paid for home, auto, business and other important areas. It means you don’t have to spend your precious time paying attention to what’s happening in DC, because we do that for you.
