The Lull Before the Storm

August in DC is always predictable: hot, and slow. The heat and humidity are predictably oppressive, and members of Congress are home for a very long recess until the beginning of September. Then the (legislative) heat is on to avoid a government shutdown by September 30.

Meanwhile, the National Guard is now patrolling the streets of our nation’s Capitol, and a special training program has been created for those tapped to be in the front lines of duty.
