A Tale of Three Presidents
Monday marked the inauguration, and in an unusual twist it was the tale of three presidents. Joe Biden ceded the office to Donald Trump, and the legacy of Jimmy Carter was also present. The 39th president passed away on December 29 at 100 years of age, and the flag over the White House was still at half staff on January 20.
Former presidents Barack Obama, George Bush, and Bill Clinton also attended the peaceful transfer of power. These are all amazingly distinct personalities with radically different backgrounds, but all made it to the highest office in the land and arguably the most powerful position in the world. Despite the deep divisions within our country, let’s hope for a future of peace, prosperity, and positivity.
As often happens, the change in administrations also brings a flurry of activity from both the outgoing and incoming regimes, and this was no exception. As reported in WineAmerica’s members-only e-newsletter published by Executive Vice President and Director of Government Affairs Michael Kaiser, several major initiatives affecting the wine industry were introduced in just one week.
We are entering a very challenging period for the wine industry, and the best way to stay up to date on developments is by becoming a WineAmerica Member.
